John Wilkie, a Scottish director of opera and theatre, works internationally, with his previous productions being performed in the UK, Europe, and New Zealand.

He is a member of the artistic team at New Zealand Festival Opera and National Youth Opera Aotearoa, ​is a stagecraft tutor at The Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio, and is a founding member of the acclaimed Opera Bohemia in his homeland of Scotland.

John has been involved in projects with many leading opera and classical music organisations, including the Royal Opera House, National Opéra du Rhin, Opéra de Lille, New Zealand National Opera, Festival Opera New Zealand, New York City Opera, Danish National Opera, Garsington Opera, Den Fynske Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, The Mozartists, Waterperry Opera Festival, and If Opera. 

Nominated in the ‘Best Production’ category at The International Opera Awards, John’s production of Il segreto di Susanna at Opera Holland Park was also named as one of the ‘Top Five Productions’ by The Stage and The Times.

​Future plans include new productions of Le nozze di Figaro, L’elisir d’amore, La sonnambula, and Flight. ​
